The Simon Brooke Memorial Round Reading 150 is a reliability ride, departing from Shinfield Parish Hall, School Green, Shinfield, Reading, Berkshire, RG2 9EH.
Routes of 150, 100 and 50 miles are available, plus a 5 mile family ride. Entry for all rides is £10.00 plus £1.00 British Cycling administration fee, with all proceeds going to charity.
Simon Brooke was the proprietor of Rotec Cycles in Shinfield and a friend and supporter of many cyclists in the local area, including many from Swallowfield Velo Club. It was a great shock to everyone who knew Simon when he had a fatal heart attack whilst on a night ride in Goring earlier this year. Swallowfield Velo Club is holding the Round Reading 150 Reliability Ride in Simon's memory and all proceeds will go to charities chosen by Simon's family.
A reliability ride is a self guided ride following a predetermined route, which will be provided to participants. There are no formal feed points, but cafes and similar will be identified on the route plans and will be expecting you to stop by.
